| An Acolyte is usually a young gentleman or a
young lady who helps with the preparation for worship. He or she uses a wand that looks something like this:
The Acolyte lights the candles on the table by the pulpit (where the pastor
preaches). You have probably seen it done with a lighter before,
but it does look rather nice for the opening of the worship
service. There would be a little time and training involved, but
you get to wear a cool robe and use fire, so it has its perks.
