The service began with Psalm 82, the Gloria Patri and the hymn of praise was "And Can It Be That I Should Gain." We had words of joy and testimony, and special music by Becky Hawkins.
The theme of the sermon was Let Christ's Light Shine Through Us.
Lu 11:29
And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet.
Lu 11:30
For as Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation.
Lu 11:31
The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
Lu 11:32
The men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.
Pastor Robbie said that many people refused to accept Jesus Christ as the Light of the World. Nineve was a big city; it took three days to walk through the city. But all the people dressed in sackcloth and ashes when they were warned to repent of their sins, and God spared the city from destruction. But others were not ready to accept God's Word or Jesus as Saviour.
Mt 5:14
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Mt 5:15
Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Joh 8:12
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
In Genesis it is said that God made man in His image to reflect and shine God's light. A man's eye reflects and shows the condition of the body and soul inside; the eyes are the window to the soul. When we accept Christ as our Saviour, it is like a burden is lifted, and you can see it in our eyes.
Pastor Robbie said that, as the moon reflects the light of the sun, so should we reflect the Light of the World: the Son of God -- Jesus Christ.
The closing hymn was "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus."
